A general environment idea

A Look Into the Copyright Laws and Fair Use

With an opportunity to use snippets of audio through these "birds," such as BumbleBee from the first Transformers movie; I needed to research more of the laws behind using such snippets.

A similar situation

This story goes on to say that a youTube video using short audio clips was asked by Sony, to be taken down. (Although a year after it was posted). 

This gives me hope that I can use small clips of audio and although it may be removed from any online source eventually, it will suffice for my project 2B.

Other websites I browsed over only offer limited and vague information. It would seem that the Fair Use Act should be applicable in this situation but this is not definitive.

Character Description and Background with Storyline Overview

My character is a culmination of three inanimate objects:

BLACKLIGHT - Material (the skin or basis of the texture)

JET TURBINE - Motion (the main way it moves)

SPEAKERS - Meaning (what it exists to do)

In order to make these 3 objects compatible within 1 creature, I integrated the mating dance of birds as a key factor in my storyline. This ended up as a birdlike creature with a blacklight based body (it can turn off and on, or dim in between). This creature dubbed as "Hero" (for want of a working name), flies around with it's turbinelike "feet" while searching for a suitable mate. When he does, Hero begins his dance (which is more of a musical light show than a whole lot of dancing); he pumps his speakers, flaunts his wings (more for stabilization than flight) and pulses his light to the beat.

The environment will respond to a certain extent (as in reflecting tree "thumbprints" from the UV light of the Hero). But will be simplistic and more artificial than realistic.

The clip will start with a setting sun and Hero on his way to the park for a prime position. Upon arrival he searches throughout the fading gloom and eventually finds a possible mate. 

He tries to woo her and although she pretends not to be interested, she hasn't left yet. Determined, he tries harder and she starts to come around.  

At this point the Bully enters and disrupts Heros progress. Blasting his big sounds he tries to move in on her and although she doesn't seem interested at all, the Bully continues.

In order to compete with the Bully, Hero cranks up his own beats and manages to fend off the Bully but at a cost of a crack to himself. He manages to get the girl and they connect in sparks.

The majority of my clip will be at night so I looked into the lighting of the park at dusk or thereabouts.

 The below images veer off from the normal topiary inspired gardens and parks and become more interesting.

 

 The last few images are of sculptures of things: people, animals etc.

I'm thinking these could be an elegant solution to trees in my environment to match the rest of the plant life.

I was looking for trees that I could simplify into synthetic trees. I stumbled across topiary (tree sculptures) and other electronic trees, amongst real trees.

The above images show a variety of trees and landscapes as possible inspirations.

This above image in particular has the elements of a synthetic hybrid park of the future that I'm looking for. The grass area with simple geometric shapes and a sense of clean.

 

Although I intended to use a park, I hadn't considered a pool/pond/water feature. 
Now it seems to be a must.

I like and want to portray this idea of a park in amongst the city.

This ties into my theme of technology and organic fusion.

I like the waterfalls in the background of this shot, it seems quite surreal.
